Ways to an an OS under 16megs:
There have been many questions regarding how to keep your OS under
16megs...one such was mentioned has hacking into QNX and copying over
NetBSD...and one that hasn't recived much attention (probally because it's
Windows instead of linux) is to use Terminal Server either on WinNT Server
or Win2k Server. To do this under 16megs you'd have to install DOS and
Windows 3.11 (the one with the networking support) and use a paralell port
ethernet adapter. Using Terminal Server you effectivly remote login to the
server computer and use it's resources, so if your server is a Quad Xeon
550 with a gig of ram...then YOUR system becomes that Quad Xeon 550 with a
gig of ram.

Another way to do this is use VNC...vnc remotely takes over the
server's desktop so it's like your sitting at the remote comptuer. The advantage of
VNC over Terminal Server is with VNC, it supports just about any platform,
so if you want your Iopener to be a Windows machine today and a Linux
machine tommorow, all you have to do is switch which server your
using...However the disadvantage of this is that it takes over the remote
computer, so it cannot be used by someone at the desktop. The advantage of
Terminal Server is that it shares the server, so the computer can still be
used by others...however, it requires a pretty good sized computer for a
server if you are going to serve many clients...additionally WinNT(and 2k)
Server is /not/ cheap...and requires a windows machine (to the best of my
knowlege, there "could" be a linux client, but I don't know about it.
Also in closing, there is the NFS mount...clean...simple...easy....kinda slow :)
