CPU:
The I-Opener comes with a 180MHz IDT WINChip CPU. The motherboard in the I-Opener uses a Socket7 CPU, which means that the possibility to upgrade the CPU exists. Dual Voltage CPU's will not work in the board. However, Fry's Electronics carry's a Dual Voltage converter with multiplier jumpers for around $40.00. The WINCHip has a 32KB L2 cache and operates on a 60MHz system bus with a 3x multiplier. The WINCHip is fully x86 compatible and performs extremely well. The WINCHip has a very low heat dissipation. The CPU operates at 3.3V. The IDT WinChip C6 processor has a much smaller die size which results in lower manufacturing costs. In addition, IDT uses a lower cost (4 layer metal) CMOS process to manufacture the IDT WinChip C6. Many of the competitors are using a more expensive 5 layer metal process.
