I received a call from Bill Bowers of
GBS.
When over-riding an overvoted ballot,
the AccuVote will:
- Process the ballot
- Eject the ballot out the
exit
- Display an LCD message "MEM CARD
REMOVED /SYSTEM HALTED"
- System is locked up.
He is in Wisconsin and has
experienced this problem in three different customer sites running 1.95d
firmware. One of the AccuVote units was identified as SN 70445. It
is an infra-red reader unit. The units used with the other two experiences
are not known. The problem is intermittent. Bill Bowers found that,
on the previously mentioned unit, it happened one time in four overrides.
But it is repeatable. He claims this has just started happening after the
firmware upgrades to 1.95d in Wisconsin.
