Freedom 2.0 Server Components

Zero-Knowledge® is committed to releasing all of its Freedom Network® server components over the coming months, which will appear on this web page as they're ready for release. These are not products supported by Zero-Knowledge, but they are released with the hope that they will be useful tools for implementing secure networking protocols.

Kernel Anonymous Internet Proxy

The kaip is a Linux kernel module that processes the fast path packet forwarding for the Freedom protocol, version 1. All Freedom traffic passes through between one and three AIPs between the client and the endpoint. At each AIP, traffic is unencrypted and forwarded to the next hop or, if it is the last hop, to its final destination. When a reply comes back, the reverse takes place. This process is described in depth in the Freedom whitepapers and in the kaip man page.

  • License
The kaip is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License

  • Build Instructions
You'll need to get and apply the international kernel patches from http://www.kerneli.org

The top of the "src/Makefile" file contains some definitions that will need to be edited to match your kernel configuration.

Once the Makefile is correct, "make all" will build the modules.

  • Use
The "doc" directory within the source contains information about how to use the kaip (host_setup and the kaip.8 man page specifically).

This release is intended for developers and is not functional end-user software. We hope that the documentation provided is useful, but it may take some effort to make the kaip work.

  • Feedback
Zero-Knowledge encourages users and developers to provide feedback regarding the Freedom source code. Please direct feedback to source-questions@zeroknowledge.com.
