GIVE YOUR BUSINESS MOBILITY
Success in business is all about connections. Keep connected to the information and applications at your office when you're on the road with i-Web Mobile Computing. It turns your digital phone into a wireless modem using a data connectivity kit (available at your TELUS Mobility dealer).
You can connect a laptop or Palm to your i-Web phone to get connected to the Internet or your corporate LAN. i-Web Unlimited offers you unlimited access to the wireless Internet for $50 per month. For more details and conditions, visit http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/wireless/unlimited.htm.

TIPS AND TRICKS
Here are a few questions we've received from our clients.

Why go with wireless data?
Many people live a paradox. They use the Internet and corporate applications to manage, educate, transact and communicate. But, typically, computers are wired to the network. Considering that the annual growth rate of mobile professionals has been about 15 per cent in the last five years, there are many profitable opportunities to gain from continuous connectivity throughout the day. Wireless data brings information and applications to the mobile professional.

What are my wireless options?
TELUS Mobility launched i-Web Data Services, turning digital data handsets into Internet devices. Using the display and keypad of a digital phone, microbrowser software allows you to access the wireless Internet for email and information. Clients have also extended the Wireless Internet to their Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or laptop with a specialized wireless modem. Another option is to connect your laptop to the Wireless Internet with a data cable from your i-Web phone (available in BC and Alberta). For more information, visit http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/wireless/wireless.htm.

Why can't I access the Web with my browser even if I'm connected wirelessly to the corporate network?
Your laptop may be configured to access the Internet from a corporate network and requires some reconfiguration to access the Internet directly.
It's likely that the proxy setting in your connection configuration needs to be changed. This proxy setting varies depending on your browser so you should consult your system administrator for assistance. In the case of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, you would change your proxy setting by selecting View/Internet Options and selecting the Connection tab. On the screen that appears you will see a selection called "Access the Internet using proxy" which should NOT be checked. Make that change, accept the results and you should be able to access the Internet.

Does i-Web Mobile Computing work in Ontario?
i-Web Mobile Computing allows you to use your digital phone as a wireless modem for your laptop. This service works over CDMA digital cellular networks that exist throughout North America. If you have a wireless phone that works in digital mode in Ontario (or Austin or New York or anywhere for that matter), you will be able to use Mobile Computing. Note: Quick Network Connect services only work in BC and Alberta so you will need to dial into an Internet Service Provider or corporate modem outside the Quick Network Connect service area. Roaming rates will apply at the same rate as your voice calls and the call will appear as a regular (i.e. not data) call on your monthly invoice.

How can I go faster with my wireless connections?
TELUS Mobility recently announced the availability of compression software for only $50. Designed to make access to Internet mail and Web pages faster, it provides up to three times the performance from your i-Web connection to your Windows laptop. Once installed, your PC will be able to surf the Web and access email at speeds comparable to a phone line connection. For more information or to purchase this software, visit http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/wireless/compsoft.htm.
