I know I’m a newbie here, but if I can add this: I think adding an OPTION (or a flag as Greg
said earlier) to hear (or see) a summary of the votes cast only makes good
sense from a marketing standpoint and would keep the special interest groups
happy. If a non-sighted voter
doesn’t want to take the extra time to listen to such a summary (or
conversely a sighted voter doesn’t want to scroll through it), then they
shouldn’t be forced to – but they should have that option. Personally, the sighted voters I talked to
love the summary screen on the TS (although some dislike the close proximity of
the “Cast Ballot” button to the scroll bar!). I just don’t see this as a
“should we” do it issue, but “how”…

The main thing the NFB and other ADA
groups want is equality. If normally sighted people have a summary, they
want a summary, too. We should consider eliminating the visual version as
Greg said. (I can hear the same roars). I doubt we can really
eliminate it given that it is a good sales feature, but maybe a compromise can
be reached that lets us offer a similar function to both sighted and visually

I would think the "Keep It
Simple" rule should prevail.
With this thought in mind, should we

If there is a visual summary screen, then
why is there not an audio summary
screen?
If the ballot is so lengthy and
complicated, as Steve and Sue have
mentioned, turn the audio summary off with a flag. I believe
we would score
a lot of points with the ADA groups if this feature were added.

I am in agreement with keeeping things as
simple as possible. Many users
will never use half of the features and are only enterested in
what it takes
to get their election done. Many customers either by law or size
do need
special features. Is it possible to have the econlmy version for
most
accounts and the cadillac versions be specific to customers that
have asked
for the changes?
