Great
ideas Nel. My hope is that the "need" for this is understood and that
someone in the know will produce. My hope is that it wouldn't be a waste
of time. At this point I don't think so.
Great idea, but a
very mobile target, indeed! Some ideas to elaborate into your matrix,
Steve:
- Amplify 'all
products' pertaining to GEMS.
- Differentiate
between AccuVote-OS and AccuVote-HS Central Count.
- The comment on
the utility upgrade for Ballot Station for CE 3.0/July 5th pertains to an
issue that arose in the configuration of specific machines, not a generic
product. Such recuperation procedures have been already detailed by
Ian.
- How about
breaking each product down by release, ie. GEMS 1-18, Ballot Station 4-3,
etc.
- Incorporate
audio and TSText into the Ballot Station (ie. either PCM or
MPEG).
- Optionally,
TSText could be qualified with the audio languages available.
- GEMS should be
configured in tandem with the highest GEMS Reports release that does not
exceed the GEMS release.
- Include Voter
Card Encoder, VCProgrammer, and Card Transfer System.

Subject: RE: Can GEMS 1.17.22 run on
Win2000 with one AVOS?
All, but especially Pat, Tab, etc.
Please open the email attached. Does anyone else feel something
like this would be helpful?
Steve K.
Running CC 2.00g
and 2.00h was tested and found that it could not connect to Windows 2000
through RAS. It CAN however connect to Windows 2000 through a Digi
PortServer. A connection to Windows XP is unsupported using RAS or
the Digi PortServer. If Windows 2000 is a priority, then use a Digi
PortServer and it should connect.
Please note that
these statements only pertain towards Central Count.
I was aware of
these issues and are currently fixed to prepare for the NEXT release CC
2.0.9 (2.00i) which allows a connection to both Windows 2000 and XP though
both RAS and Digi PortServer.

Let's get clear
on this whole NT, 2000, XP issue. Can we get a clear cut statement
from Vancouver what operating systems we support for our system. We
can't say we support TS on 2000, but not Central Count.
I
have a contract being put together stating we'll run on 2000 based on my
past requests on this issue. Let's get a clarification from
Tab/Ken/Pat Green or someone please.

I did see in
a message to support from Jason Wong on July 25, 2002
that
"As far as I
am aware, however, current released versions of central count however
are not able to connect through RAS on a Windows 2000 environment but
should connect in a Windows NT environment."
Does this
statement apply to this situation?

Does
anyone know if we can run GEMS 1.17.22 on the Windows 2000
platform instead of the Windows NT platform? We would only
be using it for an addendum election and receiving data from one
AVOS running cc2.00g. I need to know now.
Thanks.
