No need to be shy of
the support list. If you don't know whether a problem is a bug, just post
to support and we can always escalate later.
This bug is in all
4.x releases. It is usually (but not necessarily always) the case when a
bug is found on a older release, its going to be in the newer branches as
well. We always port forward bug fixes, so the next 4.2 and 4.3 releases
will have the bug fixed. It doesn't hurt to chime in on the bugtrack list
and confirm that a bug is in a newer release too, but it isn't really
necessary unless there is something else to share. We do ask that
folks try to track down the first release in which the bug appears by
trying older releases, unless its obvious that the bug has been around
since the beginning of time.
As to happy hour, I
have been trying to decide what to do about that. The beers-for-crash
program currently only applies to GEMS. There are some core AVTS design
issues that were not in my control so I have been reluctant to underwrite the
offer. I'll probably break down and extend the policy some time this year,
but not just yet.

Hi
Ken,
I'm
posting directly to you because I don't know if this is still a bug OR a
support question etc....I'm using BS 4.2.1 R4 with an internal keypad and
receiving the same error message as Mark described below. It's Friday
afternoon so could you enlighten me.....as I'm anxiously awaiting some sort of
Happy Hour!
Thanks a Bunch,
Jane
This is fixed
and will be in BS 4.1.8.

In testing the functionality of a Keyboard as an
input device to VIBS, I received the following error:
SEH Exception
c0000005 error when using a qwerty keyboard while in the write-in section
of VIBS. Pressing the 3 key above the letters (not on the keypad) causes
the error. Pressing 4 gives error 80000002. The error takes me to the
WinCE desktop.
I am using BS release 4.1.7. in test count mode with
the Buena Vista database. The voter card is programmed to show the
ballot while in VIBS.
