Subject: RE: Jornada - Precinct Control CenterYep, that too. Also, it should be technically feasible to use the unit to store voter registration information -- so called paperless poll book. Whether its good for download or not, it has the potential for a lot of uses..Ken

Subject: RE: Jornada - Precinct Control CenterI thought that we wanted the Jornada to do the same things that we have done in the past with our old Poll Book software.
- The ability to load up the Precinct / Early Voting information on to the unit.
- The ability to create voter cards.
- The ability to accumulate multiple AVTS PCMCIA cards to create one total.
- The ability to print out the accumulated results.
- The ability to transfer those results via modem.
The ability to do PCMCIA card programming would be nice, but I don't think it would be necessary, as long as, we can do the above list of items. Just my opinion.Jeff-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: Jornada - Precinct Control CenterThe Jornada exists. I have one sitting on my shelf. It is the Precinct Control Center software that is nonexistent. I wrote some proof of concept code early this year that reads/writes our smart cards, but its not something that is demonstrable. I also did a proof of concept for VIBS on the Jornada. That's closer to a product, but still too wet to demo. So, the unit shows potential.Where I am less certain with the Jornada is as a download device (PCMCIA card programming). It does not have built in ethernet, so we can't network it and download cards at the same time. It has a serial port, but that is too slow. It has a USB port, but it doesn't look like we can use that for technical reasons.Ken________________________________________________________

Subject: Jornada - Precinct Control CenterWhat is the status of the Jornada and the Precinct Control Center software??? I am currently doing training with Johnson County, KS. Their AVTS equipment will soon be there, and I will need to start doing training on both the AVTS units and the Jornada / Precinct Control Center. Thanks,JEFF HINTZGlobal Election Systems
