I will include my response
to John McLaurin and I believe that it will give some insight to what needs to
happen. “In regards to training in Florida a plan must be
well thought out. We must be aware
that system upgrades also have to be discussed. I believe that some of the older counties may not have the
horsepower to run GEMS on their PC’s, but we will have to look at on a case by
case basis. I do not have any
record of who we charge for training and who we do not, but we must identify
those counties before we start. Not all counties will be
ready prior to November, but we must investigate a systematic approach. A planning session must be identified
and pursuant conference calls to get this organized.” I do not think we can wait
until 1-17. These counties have
been promised this for 2 years. Larry J. Dix Vice President of Operations Global Election Systems -----Original
Message----- This is great news...do we try and get FL
up and running by Nov, since it is required they have software in the
county...would that mean different computers, training, etc...from our end it
is easy we just switch, or do w wait until the next upgrade to 1.17? let
me know what you're thinking. -----Original Message----- I have just
received notification from the Division of Elections in Florida that we have
received our "Certificate of Certification for GEMS 1.11.14"
dated July 27, 2001. Copies of the sealed certificate (#0107GLOBAL-01), and the
Division's public announcement letter will be sent the SOE in each Florida
county on Monday. My sincere thanks
to all involved in this process, especially Nel Finberg, Jeff Hintz and Tari
Runyan. They did an outstanding
job in preparing us to pass this certification effort. Larry J. Dix Vice President of
