If they do not have an election for 2 years, why the rush to update them
at this time. I am willing to bet
we will have a later release of AVTS software before 2003. Larry J. Dix Vice President of Operations Global Election Systems -----Original
Message----- Their
next scheduled election will take place November 10, 2003. The election
summary was of particular interest to the City Clerk of Barrie, John
Craig, the man responsible for its purchase. In the last election, there
were a number of voters who kept touching the NEXT without voting. It is
his opinion that showing a summary of the candidates voted for would eliminate
the blank vote. Barrie
is the only municipality in Canada using a touch screen system and as such,
John Craig is asked to speak at many election functions as well as media
interviews. Greg

AVTS software upgrade - From 3.12 to 4.0.4 When is their next
election? What benefits does 4.0
provide them that they do not currently have. What features does 4.0 give them that they need for their
next election? Larry J. Dix Vice President of
Operations Global Election Systems -----Original Message----- The City of Barrie, Ontario has seen our latest AVTS 4.0 software,
and was wondering if they would be able to upgrade their Blue & White AVTS
units to that version. They are running Windows 98 on their current AVTS units.
So that is not a problem. However, they are using Poll Book version 3.12, which is on their
own Computer Systems with a external card reader connected,
and creating voter cards this way. Is Poll Book version 3.12
compatible with Ballot Station 4.0.4. I think that this would be the only
concern in doing an upgrade for them. JEFF HINTZ Global Election Systems |
