The difference
between Exclusive and Additive in the Straight Party Tally Settings is whether
or not the action the voter takes in the individual candidate race causes an
overvote or not. Doesn’t the AVTS
prevent the voter from overvoting?
There may not be a problem with AVTS therefore. As far as
Optical Scan, this situation may or may not need correcting. Does she have any races that are “Vote for
multiple” (i.e. more than one)? I
imagine she does. Focusing on those
races, do any of those “vote for multiple” races have fewer nominees by a party
listed in the Straight Party race than the voter is allowed to vote for? For example, does she have any races that
are “Vote for Two” and the Republicans only nominated one person? If she does have any races like this (fewer
nominees by one party than the voter is allowed to vote for in the race), then
we may have a problem that needs to be addressed. If she does not have any races like this (i.e. all parties
nominated as many people as the voter is allowed to vote for in all “vote for
multiple” races) then we do not have a problem that needs to be addressed (the
reason being that in case of the latter, Exclusive and Additive tally the same
way). Tyler -----Original

County is doing their testing on their AccuVote's and have found that they did
not set the Exclusive option for their Straight Party. I have walked her
through doing this, but now Gems says she needs to download all of her memory
cards, including the Early Voting disks on the AVTS units. The problem is
that they have already been voting on the AVTS units for the last week, and
have several hundred votes. What can we do so that the AVTS disks that
have been voted on so far will be able to upload on election day??? Jeff
