Using GEMS Audio Import

To anyone who wants to know,

The latest releases of GEMS 1-17 have a new utility to import audio files. This utility is designed to allow users to bulk import audio files from disk for races and candidates into GEMS. Only the default language is supported.

To use this utility the audio files must be created in a series of directories whose name begins with the 'sortseq' for the races. The actual audio file name must begin with the 'sortseq' for the candidates.  The audio for the race must be in the file name 'text.wav'. For questions the YES and NO audio files must be stored in the root directory.  Here is an example directory/file structure:

C:\Audio\MyElection                                                   - this is the 'root' directory
C:\Audio\MyElection\10 President                                - This is the directory for the president race sort seq 10
C:\Audio\MyElection\10 President\Text.wav                  - This is the audio for the race title
C:\Audio\MyElection\10 President\10 Bush.wav             - This is the audio for the first candidate sortseq 10
C:\Audio\MyElection\10 President\20 Gore.wav             - This is the audio for the first candidate sortseq 20
C:\Audio\MyElection\20 US Senate\                            - This is the directory for the US Senate race sort seq 20
C:\Audio\MyElection\20 US Senate\Text.wav                  - This is the audio for the race title
C:\Audio\MyElection\20 US Senate\10 Smith.wav         - This is the audio for the first candidate sortseq 10
C:\Audio\MyElection\20 US Senate\20 Jones.wav         - This is the audio for the second candidate sortseq 20
C:\Audio\MyElection\Yes.wav                                     - This is the audio for the YES response to questions
C:\Audio\MyElection\No.wav                                       - This is the audio for the NO response to questions

When running the 'Import Audio' you will be prompted for the 'root' directory for the audio.  A log of errors found is recorded in the file 'log.txt' in the 'root' directory.  This lists any missing files, duplicate files or other errors encountered during the import.
