Don Biszmaier ordered and received a replacement cable from McKinney several feet long for this county.  Any explanation?

The length of that cable is predetermined by Digi Products Inc.  I can't help you there.  Digi doesn't offer anything longer.

In a recent install in Columbia County, Florida, I noticed that the Digi cable delivered that connects the host to the DigiPort was fairly short (appr. 6").  This length is impractical, and should be kept to at least several feet.
