- If colored ink is to be used to
screen a background color in restricted control areas (i.e., calibration
zones, timing marks zones, diagnostic and ID mark zones, and voting oval
zones) then the color has to conform to Table T1 in our Ballot Specifications
(rev. D Apr, 1996).
- Control Marks (i.e., timing marks,
diagnostic and ID marks) must be printed in a black ink (carbon black for
Infra-red use).
- Text areas and header areas are
considered non-restricted zones, and any color can be used in those areas as
long as there is an adequate clearance (at least 1/8") from any of the
restricted control areas.

Subject: Ballot Printing - Colors
Do we have any type
of documentation for the type of color ink that printers can use when printing
colored ballots??? I am setting
up 2 ballots for Cameron, Texas and they wish to print 1 ballot style in
Purple & the other ballot style in Blue. The printer that we are using is
Midwest Printing and they have never printed actual colored text, and they
wish to know exactly what colored ink to
use.
Thanks,
Jeff
