Subject: Re: GEMS - Stand alone.
The City of Ottawa election office is 15 miles away
from City Hall where the GEMS server is located. The database is
created on a PC in the election's office.
Burlington would like to put their GEMS server in the IT
department located in the basement of their City Hall with a terminal for the
main user located on the third floor. Is the main user given an IP
address on the City's network to implement GEMS and if so, can
other election users get IP addresses as well and work on their
own GEMS databases?
GEMS is a single user application. The
GEMS and the databases resides on the WindowsNT machine that the user is
working on. If they want more than one user to run GEMS at the same
time they will need to have GEMS installed on multiple machines and each
user must work on a different database.
