I will get
those names that Johnson County has.
Thanks,
Jeff
Jeff,
We will look at removing the
10 character constraint from the candidate name but this is not high on our
priority list so it will not be done until sometime next year.
Also would it be possible to
post some examples of long names?

Subject: RE: Increase the Candidate
Label field in GEMS
How do I
explain to Johnson County, KS that they cannot print out the entire name of
the candidate on the GEMS report??? Especially, since they were able
to do it with their old system.
Jeff
Jeff,
The limitation of 20
characters is driven by the width of the AccuVote-OS and AccuVote-TS
printers and the space we allocation for candidate names on reports. If we
increase the length of the candidate name field then we will have to
change the AccuVote-OS memory card to support the longer names and either
wrap or truncate the candidate names in the reports. This would
require some major work to be done.

Required: Jan. 2002, before Feb. Election for Johnson County, KS
Requested on behalf of Johnson
County, KS. They will
actually have some Candidate names that are more than 20
characters, and the full name has
to be on the Report. Can we increase the Candidate Label field to
40 or 50 characters.
