| The label field is initially fixed to 20 digits to eliminate
the possibility of the name running into the number of votes received.  I
believe the maximum is 9999  unless a special .abo is
used.     Once the database has been set for election, you can go
into the list view and complete the names.  This will allow 26 characters
in the election summary report, 16 characters on one line (2 lines available) in
the SOVC.     Warning! You can't go back and edit the label in the Candidates tab in
the Race editor until you have reduced the number of characters back to
20.   Greg

  field in GEMS
 How do I
explain to Johnson County, KS that they cannot print out the entire name of
the candidate on the GEMS report???  Especially, since they were able to
do it with their old system.   Jeff

    Jeff,       The limitation of 20
characters is driven by the width of the AccuVote-OS and AccuVote-TS
printers and the space we allocation for candidate names on reports. If we
increase the length of the candidate name field then we will have to change
the AccuVote-OS memory card to support the longer names and either wrap or
truncate the candidate names in the reports.  This would require some
major work to be done.   Tab

Required:       Jan. 2002, before Feb. Election for Johnson County, KS   Requested on behalf of Johnson
      County, KS.  They will
actually have some Candidate names that are more than 20
characters, and the full name has to
be on the Report.  Can we increase the Candidate Label field to 40 or
      50 characters.   Thanks,   Global Election
