Subject: AVTS -
Ticker Tape to print Ballot Serial Number with Write-In Name
Michigan, as well
as, other Northeast states need to have this feature in order for us to
be certified for their states.
Obviously this
is not needed for races that have only 1 write-in line and are only a
vote for 1. However, where there is a race with multiple write-in
lines and multiple candidates to vote for; there needs to be a way
to determine if a voter has written in the same name more than once for a
multiple candidate race. We have already done this in Gems with the TS
Write-In Report, but it is required that this be done within the Vote Center,
where there is no host computer with Gems. You can view each ballot on
the AVTS within the View Ballot Result screen, but this would take too long
especially with multiple AVTS units within a Vote Center. The idea would
be to print the Ballot Serial Number along with the Write-In Name on the
ticker tape report. I am not sure if we want to print out the Name
followed by the Serial Number, or do a 2 line print out - first the name
followed by the serial number on the second line, possibly indented.
Some way of being able to check easily and quickly for the same name and same
ballot id within the report. Also, we could possilby add another check
box within the Reporting Screen on the AVTS unit, where you would check
Include Write-In Names with Ballot Serial Numbers. That way, the states
that do not require this could still have the check box with Include Write-In
Names.
I am
not sure when this is actually required. I am assuming real soon, since
GBS & LHS have asked for it, and again it is required for
Certification.
Larry
Dix or Don Vopalensky can you get the actual date when this is
needed???
