Re: Creating AV-TS databases on computer floppy drives

I am running in a development environment and so I do not know all the details for installing both GEMS and BallotStation on the same machine.  But given that GEMS is designed to run under WinNT and BallotStation under Win95/98 be carefull of the install shield installing incompatible DLL's.

Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

That is all I (and others who aren't as informed as Greg Forsythe) needed to know.  A very creative solution and one that will hopefully be fully exploited by all.

Is there any precautions that should be taken when loading BS software onto a GEMS computer?  I know that we (Global) are very particular about other software programs being loaded onto GEMS systems.

Ian,

GEMS does not know anything about what format to write the data to the floppy disk in, this is a function of the BallotStation/PollBook app.  Therefor unless we were to include almost all of the code for the BallotStation into GEMS (which we will not do) this will never be possible.

How ever there is a solution, which is the one that I use.  Load the BallotStation software onto your GEMS PC then run the ballotstation software and GEMS. Start the GEMS download server and then in the BallotStation download from the 'localhost'.
