Just to clarify you must place the first DLL CPM wants into the systems
folder so that it can then ask you for the second one Sorry, it ‘s been a long day and I keep tripping over my tongue. Juan A. Rivera -----Original Message----- Open the
Card reader that you just have tested successfully and check the center
personality chip that has a firmware version sticker on it and make sure that
all card readers have that same version.
You can ask the manufacturer to burn new chips if you return the old
chips at a minimum cost to make sure that they all work the same way. Also make sure that the same
Votercard.dll is used on any new installs of CPM.exe, plus on that system you
have the two other DLL’s require to successfully run CPM.exe on any other
machine to include NT since I have it working in Gaston N.C. Take a
virgin machine (pardon the expression) that has never seen an install copy
CPM.exe to a new folder and the votercard.dll to Windows system folder, once
you run CPM it will ask for one other DLL first (the name escapes me) then copy
that one from your working pc and keep a copy, then run CPM again at this time
it will ask you for another DLL (that one too I can’t remember) copy that one
also from your hard drive and keep a copy. Place both additional DLL’s in the system folder of the new
pc also. That should do it. Send
the Voter Card DLL and the additional two DLL’s and the CPM.exe files to Ian to
hold as gospel for future CPM install and reference. I hope
this helps Juan A. Rivera -----Original Message----- I just finished doing a small test here in
the Omaha office, and here is what I produced. I ran the CPM program to
be able to produce Manager Cards. Using a tabletop model - Rev. B, and
Voter Card.dll - Version 3-12-6-1, I was successful in programming the 4
different types of cards that I have. The oval chip card, a square chip
card with an X shape, a square chip card with the word ATMEL at the bottom, and
a square chip card in the L shape. Those are the exact cards I had in
Barrie, and I was only successful with the square chip card in the L
shape. However, I did not have the CPM program installed on any
equipment, there in Barrie. I don't know if that helps or not, but just
thought I would try the test here in Omaha. -----Original Message----- Global McKinney had never shipped Manager
Cards to Barrie, ON, prior to Jeff Hintz's arrival there last week. I don't
know where the ones Jeff mentioned came from. The current revisions of the External
Smart Card Reader are A, B, C, and D. If Global Vancouver already has
some external card readers there, perhaps they could tell me what revisions
they have and I could ship the revisions they don't have. I can provide samples of various versions
of smart cards used by Global over the centuries. I'll send Bonnie some
info so she can create a work order for these parts. Ian -----Original Message----- The City of Barrie had 2 Manager cards
there with the Gems system. A 1K card, (the old oval chip card), and a
64KB card, (the square chip card with a L shape). I don't know if these
cards were left from the first election that was done with the old I-Mark
system, or if left from demostrations after that. Yes the 1K Manager cards work on my
table top reader here in Omaha. But I have a table top model
that is Rev. B, and the table tope models sent to Barrie were Rev. D. Also, you might want Ian to send you all
the different Smart Cards & Smart Card Readers that they currently have in
McKinney, and make sure all are working. -----Original Message----- Jeff, Two questions: 1)
Since Ian states they have never send 1K Manager cards where did the 1K manager
cards come from? 2)
Do the 1K Manager cards work on other readers? If they do then I would
like to get a the 1K manager card and a new reader so we can determine what the
problem is and get it fixed. Tab -----

3:21 PM Subject: Smart
Cards & New Table Top Card Readers I am
doing training here in the City of Barrie, Canada, and I have encountered with
the new table top card readers sent here, that they cannot read some of the different
smart cards that we have. So far I have only been able to get the square
smart card with the shape of an L able to read. Once I am able to get into the Poll Book
software with this card, I can create voter cards with any of the other cards
that I have, and they work fine in the AVTS units. Is there anyone else
that has encountered these problems??? Jeff
