I have just finished testing the new fast card reading software.  Using the old oval shaped Smart Card & the square shaped Smart Card with no writing, it takes about 10 seconds to read the card and then about 10 seconds to write to the card after you hit Cast Ballot.  The square shaped Smart Card that has writing that says ATMEL on it, takes about 3 seconds to read the card and then about 10 seconds to write to the card after you hit Cast Ballot.
